In Search of Vision

There are many ways to go about defining a vision, and all start necessarily with self-reflection. As I work on CXD’s, here are some questions I asked (am asking, will always be asking) myself.

Defining Values

Values definition is essential for any business or organization — micro or macro, start-up or established, for-profit or not — and there are many ways to do it. Here’s how I got started with CXD’s.

In the Arena

Here in Andalucía (land of bullrings) I’m reminded of the Theodore Roosevelt quote about courage. “The Man in the Arena” is as relevant and inspiring now as it was the day I read it first.

Brand Sabbatical

Are you challenged to find the time to devote to strategic visioning, business development, and marketing? It may be time to proactively take the proverbial “bull by the horns.”

Remembering One Writer

As I launch this CXD “comprehensive overhaul and brand refresh,” I pause to pay tribute to — and remember with appreciation and gratitude — my original co-creator.

Reaffirming Values

The first step of our updating process was to reassert CXD’s founding principles. Those values that define who I am, and inform what I do.

Shorter is Sweeter

Communication By Design is long, but can be shortened to CXD with the “X” standing for “by” like in math. Multiply 3 by 4 to get 12 is the same...

What’s In a Name?

While it may be true, philosophically, that a name is no more than an arbitrary label, it is also true, pragmatically, that names DO matter.

A Solopreneur Can Be “We”

As an independent professional, I am one person. Yet I write and talk about my work in terms of “we.” This is not a contradiction.

Why Drydock?

Like a boat in a “dry dock” — a place in a shipyard designed for repairs and equipment upgrades — CXD is in the midst of a comprehensive overhaul.
